The tomato has not always had the role it has today.
Imported from Perù to Europe in the 16th century, it was used as an ornamental plant, but also as an ingredient in magic love potions.
In particular, both in France and in Great Britain, it was considered an aphrodisiac and they literally called it “love apple”.
The name by which we call it today is due to its original color: gold.
However, it was only in the 18th century that it was discovered that the fruit was actually edible.
Today its pulp is a must have in our kitchen. We always look for a made in Italy product that is healthy, like tomato pulp distributed by Varvello International.
